One of the most interesting concepts we follow is tradition. I was recently involved in a discussion about the relevance of maintaining tradition and why we do things for the sake of doing them?

A simple google search defines tradition as “the transmission of customs or beliefs from generation to generation, or the fact of being passed on in this way”. Using this season as the perfect example, we indulge as a whole in traditions, meaning, we consume a lot of food and exchange gifts, perhaps dress a certain way, use certain colours and blindly follow the same mannerisms we’ve been conditioned to from a young age – unless one chooses to rebel.

The variety of traditions is a fascinating phenomenon. With purpose, they are created to mark a celebration – belonging, joy, emotion, composure, faith, initiation, ending, or various other reasons.

“Do you remember when?” – yep. It goes to show that some of the most memorable moments experienced in a group is linked to tradition. It may not make any sense at times, but it’s arguably the most simple and magical way to commemorate.

Growing up, on the 14th of every September my family would light up a small bonfire to jump over with the neighborhood kids in celebration of the ‘Feast of the Cross’, that’s one of my favourite traditions, what’s yours?

To my horror, I’ve recently discovered that the females I associate with are unicorns. What do you mean you might ask?

According to the dictionary, a unicorn is a legendary animal that is described as a beast. It’s a mythical creature, strong, wild and fierce. Subsequently, it’s metaphorical, non-existence, and magical.

This horror I express, I call a blessing. It’s proven that ordinary and females in general demand attention, validation, self-pity at times, reassurance and painful excessive whining. But a queen doesn’t.

Exemplified above is just an example of a few. Coco Chanel states that a ‘girl should be two things, classy and fabulous’. That’s because “a strong women understands that the gifts such as logic, decisiveness and strength are just as feminine as intuition and emotional connection. She values and uses all of her gifts’’ says Nancy Rathburn.

There is nothing more beautiful than being gentle, respectful and polite. This means that I would need a lifetime to express my appreciation and love for my clique. They are truly rare to find!

The Wedding Date

It’s wedding season and there is nothing more important that having that one partner in crime to share it with. Once the formalities of the event are over, the social part commences and that’s when the fun begins. I cannot stress how pivotal it is to have the perfect fit tag along as it could make or break the night.

Let’s narrow it down, what are the qualifications of a good male & female wedding date?

Wedding date

But don’t panic, if all of the above cannot be attained just remember that the wine and whisky is your companion right through to the end, or for the lucky ones having your close friends to run a muck with.
