I’ve got you.

Hey friends,
Many moons ago Frank Ocean wrote a letter to himself, one that was simple, significant and best of all still relevant. I had shared this four years ago, perhaps it was close to my heart and although years have gone by, if you read you’ll get it.

You learn that life moves on, time heals all, you’ll meet good people and bad people, unhappiness is temporary, nothing lasts forever, work is work, worrying is temporary, the bad days fade, perhaps you’ll come across worse or the worst might have passed, if the next comes it will also pass, relationships change, logic is often reasonable, people change, what was five years ago may not be today and that’s okay, you’ll feel happy, what you thought was grand becomes insignificant in time or perhaps it grows greater, unexpected things happen, the past shapes you but the future is what makes you.

Always trust your first instinct, be kind, loyalty is sweet, don’t accept s***, be vocal and stand up for what you believe in even if the world is against you, learn what lines to cross and carry your self with the highest and utmost respect. Don’t start drama and say you hate drama, practice what you preach, and just know that “it is during the worst times of your life that you will get to see the true colours of the people who say they care for you”* – ain’t that the truth?

A Wedding Blog

”Planning a wedding is fun” – said no one ever.

Organising a wedding is not as delightful as it seems. Being a control freak, what I found most challenging was trying to articulate the notion of a specific ‘vision’ in my head on a piece of paper, and better yet explain it to those that are not understanding the bigger picture, my picture.

Listen up girl, here’s my advice to you…

1- Stand your ground, at the end of the day it’s your moment to shine and not theirs.

2- Be organised, have a bomb of an excel sheet and work your way from there.

3- To do lists are essential, that way you don’t miss a thing.

4- Make demands and be present. What that means is that you have a bridal party under your dictatorship, girls that you can milk with orders – abuse it. Note: Pick your battles though because what goes around does come around, so you might have to pay the price for it someday.

5- There will always be a wedding better than yours, a bride more fabulous, one with nicer hair, and a face that is more on point than yours so work with what you have.

6- Don’t forget that it’s not just about you, him is also involved (at times).

7- There’s no such thing as ‘enough music’ – if you’re going to go way out make sure the VIBE is focus.

8- You’ll never be Tom Cruise so keeping the world happy is MISSION IMPOSSIBLE. You’ll win some and lose some, that’s the cycle of life. Just remember, your shining stars will remain glowing with you and for you.

9- Choose a dress that you feel fabulous in, you’ll radiate.

10- And at the end, love is the only thing that matters!

Looking back today, it’s the smiling faces and warm hearts that were most memorable.

The Rest of Greece

Mykonos
Little Venice, Mykonos, Greece, 2017

The rest of Greece will touch on the two final destinations, that being the Island of Mykonos and Athens itself.

Few years back I visited Mykonos as a young soul, one that was willing, almost unstoppable. Time was not of concern, day could have been night and night could have been day. I proudly held up to the reputation of what the Island is all about, a party Island.

Since then few things have changed. Going back second time round the experience could not be more different. You know you’re getting older when you attempt to keep up with the momentum and buy tickets to see Steve Aoki at Cavo but fail to go because “I’m sleepy” and well, it’s “too much effort”. I question myself at times, what happened to the old me?!

I laugh at this with my girlfriends, it’s simple, we’ve come to terms with the fact that ‘Hey, it’s okay, we’re getting old, let’s just accept it’. That was then and this is now …

Now: On the brighter side of things, we happened to enjoy a more luxurious side of it which is just as good, if not better. Spending time by the pool side and at the beach after country hopping ain’t so bad. The town is as is, except we went overkill eating at ‘Souvlaki Story’ – try it if you find yourself there.

AthensAthens, Greece, 2017

Finally, the bees tire away and the sun comes out, it’s the stopover before we head home. Athens as you see above is a big city covered with white buildings and history, one that is calm but very hot in the summer time.

With no energy left, Athens was spent looking out from a balcony window and reminiscing on every moment my husband and I spent together during this sweet month. One place I definitely recommend you try is “Kalamaki Kolonaki”, a super casual, authentic and delicious food.

When everything is available, appetite is bound to ebb away. The lesson is that God is Magic and patience is a virtue. Trust him and he will lead you. Understand that it’s a blessing to be alive and my favourite part of all is that he will never put you through what you cannot get through.

Love,
Mrs Elfar xx
