A trip down memory lane…

Our countries
The countries of war and pain
The countries of love and dreams
Our countries …

It wasn’t until the end of this video that I was transported back into my childhood as though I was standing back on school grounds, in Baghdad, reciting this very same song. Well over 13 years the lyrics still flow as if I sang it this morning during school assembly.

I stood proud front row beside a classmate, not because it was an honour but because I was the shorter person in my class. I took it very seriously, grounded and ready I sang as if I was a lead in own concert.

Don’t be fooled by what you see now. Baghdad was unshakable; a nation rich with love, compassion, family and dear memories. It was home, It was a happy home.
